Getting your son or daughter launched into the world is an awesome responsibility. There are so many things to consider, to do, to plan for. Not the least of these is helping your teen get into the college he or she wants to attend — with minimal damage to the family finances.

HELP YOUR STUDENT SUCCEED

By attending a ZAPS seminar, your student not only prepares for the ACT, PSAT, or SAT, he or she also takes a step toward responsibility for creating a successful future.

ZAPS seminars give students the opportunity to sharpen their general test-taking skills as well as learn specific information about these important tests. In each seminar, ZAPS provides strategies, tips, time-management techniques, practice, study materials, and motivation.

I just wanted to thank you for putting on the Zaps seminar
in Sauk Rapids, MN. Both of my children complained about
having to go to a "dumb" course. However, they both came
home pleasantly surprised that the instructor was engaging
with the kids and that she didn't make it boring. They both
felt they learned alot about the ACT test and strategies for
testing in general. Again, THANK YOU. I let Sauk Rapids
High School know of my opinion in offering this course
to the students in the future.

It was a pleasure. It felt like it went by fast and the
combination of the presentation and the presenter
kept it interesting.

Subject-focused webinars

Most students have at least one subject area in which they feel a bit less confident. If your student feels the need for more targeted help before the ACT or PSAT/SAT, a ZAPS subject-review webinar can help. In each two-hour webinar, a subject-matter expert teaches students content that is likely to appear on the test while also walking them through the challenging item types in that section. These live webinars offer students the opportunity to ask questions of the test specialist and get the help they need to do better on the subject area of the test.

Webinars are offered monthly prior to the ACT, PSAT, or SAT. To view webinar dates and times and to register your student for a webinar, go to the following links:

Score boosters

Whether your student needs a lot of extra practice of just an extra boost, ZAPS Score Boosters offer just the right amount of support. Read below to learn more.

A LIFETIME ADVANTAGE

As your student prepares for college, one of the most important things he or she can do is to build a strong vocabulary. Because vocabulary is so closely correlated to not only school success but also job advancement, it's important to view building one's vocabulary as a lifelong skill that will pay huge dividends in the future.

ZAPS College Vocabulary appWith ZAPS College Vocabulary Challenge, your student will gain an important headstart on college. ZAPS College Vocabulary Challenge teaches the meaning and use of hundreds of words — words that your student will encounter in college, in the workplace, on the Web, in books, and in the media.

If your student is planning to take the  PSAT/SAT, the app will also provide valuable extra practice for the Critical Reading section of the test. This is not a substitute for the ZAPS PSAT/SAT seminar, but it is a terrific supplement, with seminar hints embedded in the Challenge section. Yet the ZAPS College Vocabulary Challenge is helpful to students taking the ACT as well. Althought the ACT doesn't directly test vocabulary knowledge, having a college-level vocabulary is essential to earn the highest scores on the ACT. But test-taking isn't even the most important reason for improving vocabulary. A high-level vocabulary will serve your student well throughout his or her lifetime, opening doors to success in business and fulfillment in life.

You have choices in purchasing the ZAPS College Vocabulary Challenge: online at the ZAPS website, in the iTunes store, or in the Google Play store. Note that the online version requires a connection to the Web; once purchased, the iTunes and Android versions do not.

EXTRA ACT and PSAT/SAT Practice ONLINE

Whether your student is a high scorer or is struggling to do better on the test, extra practice can make the difference in gaining an additional point or two. ZAPS offers two online practice tests: ZAPS ACT-Practice Test and ZAPS SAT-Practice Test. Your student can choose to take either online test timed to get the feel of testing day or untimed for close examination. The practice questions are in the same style and difficulty level for all four sections of the ACT or all three sections of the SAT. And, your student's instant score report will give you both an idea of how well he or she would score on the actual ACT, PSAT, or SAT test if taken that day.
